Skincare Tips for a Healthy Glow this Memorial Day Weekend Blog Post

Easy Skincare Tips For A Healthy Glow This Memorial Day Weekend

Can you believe our first big kickoff for the summer season Memorial Day weekend is upon us!  I can hardly wait to celebrate with friends and family as I am sure all of you are.

With summer weather coming soon let’s look at four skincare tips we can start implementing this week to give our skin a healthy glow for this weekend and all summer long.

Protect Your Skin

It goes with out saying that protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays is a top priority on any skincare tip guide.  So grab your sunscreen, check the expiration date, and apply to yourself before you head out the door.  If you need to grab a new bottle of sunscreen here are some things to look for.  Dermatologists recommend a lotion with a SPF rating of at least a 30 but no more than a 50.  Try to find sunscreens that do not contain the following oxybenzone, homosalate, and octocrylene.  For further reading check out this link EWG's Guide to Sunscreens.

Give your lips some love

You may think I’m talkin about the smoochin kind of love but what I’m really sayin is show your lips some moisture.  If you're spending time outside, your lips are probably going to get a little dry and could use some loving.  Grab one of our balms made with moisturizing hempseed oil and apply to keep your lips kissably smooth.

Drink As Much Water as You Can

I know the temptation is there to drink other drinks including those grown up drinks but you really, really  need to drink water if you are going to be outside for any period of time in the sun and heat.  Your skin will thank you with a healthy glow and your body will thank you later if you stay hydrated.

Eat Foods that are High in Moisture and Antioxidants

Honestly, I never really thought this was something until I started this post.  Eating foods that are high in moisture and antioxidants are not only great for your health but are also great for your skin in that they provide moisture and keep your skin hydrated and provide a healthy glow.   Some great choices you can choose that are rich in antioxidants and hydration are cucumbers, beets, spinach, watermelon, mushrooms, and sweet potatoes.

Hydrating Foods such as watermelon, cucumber, spinach and beets provide your skin with hydration and a healthy glow.

I know there are more choices and I would love to hear what you can add to this list.  Leave a comment below if you know of another fruit or vege that is a great addition to these choices!
